human guinea pig

once again, ethan was phil's test subject...this time for portrait lighting. he looks like he's waiting for a train and preparing for some big adventure to begin.

ethan got out all of his favorite kitchen gadgets, placed them on the window sill, and made a fabulous invisible dinner for us.

an artist at work

here ethan is hard at work on his latest crayola creation. you can see he also took the liberty to decorate the boxes in the background.

he took a moment to look at the camera. his expression seems to be saying, "um...can't you see i'm working here?"

happy birthday daddy

at the end of march we celebrated phil's 32nd birthday.
here is the face ethan made in response to his daddy's age.

for some reason ethan kept making this face before singing the happy birthday song. maybe he was just eyeing the huge strawberries and white chocolate decoration.

two out of three facing the camera isn't bad.

we have never taught ethan how to blow out the candles, and he hasn't been to that many birthday parties (not that we know of anyways). how do kids just know these things?

this could have been phil and his father thirty years ago...those are some really strong genes.
